My passion is solving problems. It is a skill that has evolved over the years as a landscape architect, business owner, sales director, mentor, and father. I seek solutions for problems through thoughtful design, analytics, and planning. There is an unusually close relationship between a sketch on a piece of paper, and a multiple-page P&L excel spreadsheet. The balance between the two is where solutions exist.
For me, a good designer and salesperson need to have many of the same traits. First, a hyper-focus on the problem. Second, the goals for the end of the project. And lastly, a process for reviewing and analyzing the success of the project. You can not be afraid to ask hard questions or face criticisms for the part that is unsuccessful.
I believe success will come once you find happiness and passion in your life. That comes in different forms for everyone. So find your passion and start putting it to use today.
